The Government of Salta reinforced the contingency plan to mitigate the effects of the extreme drought that is affecting the province, with the greatest impact on the municipalities of the San Martín department.
With 74 tanker trucks, strategically distributed in the different towns and communities of the San Martín department, the provincial government intensified the operation to mitigate the effects of the drought and the historic water crisis affecting the north.
Governor Gustavo Sáenz toured the towns affected by the water shortage on Thursday, an opportunity in which he verified the progress of the water delivery operations both by tanker and bottled trucks and the containment actions that are developed from the different government areas that intervene in the Water Crisis Committee.
The Governor also gave instructions to intensify the actions that are being carried out, mainly the water distribution operation, an essential resource for the inhabitants of the area given the high temperatures that have been recorded.
In this sense, through the different agencies, plus the contribution of private companies and the Army, which made trucks available, it was possible to reach 74 vehicles available for water delivery. In addition, the rains registered in the last hours helped to partially recover the network service, bringing relief and an improvement to the situation.
Trucks by location
The number of trucks available today by agency in each of the towns and communities affected by the water crisis is detailed below.
The company Aguas del Norte has a total of 34 8,000-liter trucks distributed in Tartagal (12), Mosconi (12), Salvador Mazza (3), Aguaray (3), General Ballivián (1), Yacuy (1) and Embarcación (2 ).
The municipalities in the area, meanwhile, reinforce deliveries by hiring their own trucks in Tartagal (6), Mosconi (1), Aguaray (5), Salvador Mazza (1) and Embarcación (4).
The Secretariat for Indigenous Affairs, for its part, has trucks in Tartagal (6) and Mosconi (4).
On the other hand, the Civil Defense area has trucks in Tartagal (1) and Mosconi (1).
Provincial Highway also contributes 1 truck in Tartagal. Plus 1 more of National Highway in the same town.
The Army, meanwhile, adds another 2 trucks to the town of Tartagal.
With the contribution of private companies, there are also 2 trucks of 35,000 liters in General Mosconi, 1 of 25,000 liters in Aguaray and 1 of 17,000 liters in Tartagal.
Finally, there is a Water Treatment Plant and 3 tanker trucks in General Ballivián.
